Chris Dawson, founder and owner of The Range cut the ribbon in front of a waiting crowd and declared his 50,000 sq ft unit ready for trading. The 8,500 sq ft Garden Centre was also opened. Local radio station Invicta FM was on site broadcasting live and running regular competitions throughout the day. Prizes were donated by The Range and included a Barzebo (a gazebo with a bar) and a top of the range BBQ.
The buzz of excitement surrounding the opening of The Range spread throughout the entire centre, with most stores reporting increased footfall and buoyant sales over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Entertainment was arranged over the weekend including face painters and Arts and Crafts workshops in store plus a roaming balloon modeller.
The Range has reported great sales, well in excess of target for the first three days of opening. Footfall has also been up on expectations.
Chris Dawson from The Range says, "Based on our first week of trading, everything is looking very positive at Dockside. All our figures are up and as word spreads, we are sure we will see more and more people from the local area coming along to check out our products. The store itself looks great - we're really pleased with how it all came together and the end result is fantastic - the garden centre is proving to be a real hit with shoppers."
